Responsible Tourism – Challenges of Telangana State Police

Responsible Tourism – Challenges of Telangana State Police

Harsha Bhargavi Pandiri
Chief Public Relations Officer, Police Department, Government of Telangana, Hyderabad

Tourism is a very important sector and has gained priority from the past decade. Media plays a key role in promoting tourism. Whatever and however beautiful is the place, basic thought that revolves in the mind of a visitor is whether the place is safer and secured or not. It all starts with safe transportation, accommodation, trustable tour guide, peaceful ambiance without any bandh calls, and immediate response of the law enforcement during the emergency and so on.

Telangana is the state that has formed with a lot of struggles over the decades. After its formation, there was a misconception that revolved and spread that there will be law and order issues in the state. It has been 7 years since its formation there is no single incident that has disturbed the peace of neither the citizens residing nor the visitors. Moreover, Hyderabad has become a destination for major international events and celebrations. Be it the Sensation- Rise India or Global Entrepreneurship Summit or any other, the Police is striving hard to promote peace in the state.

The paper will present the series of events that have happened in the State of Telangana and how Police have played a crucial role in protecting the peace and maintaining law and order. The challenges of Police in protecting the tourist places, upcoming tourist projects, responding to tourist complaints, providing safe ambiance for organizing events and shows. It will also examine how the news was verified and corrected during major incidents by monitoring through official sources.
