The positive visitor experience is a key factor in obtaining economic benefits for the tourism industry. Accessibility for potential visitors is one important aspect of it. Visitor accessibility encompasses access to all potential visitor segments of the tourism markets including an ageing population and people with different abilities. Due to technological advancement, the introduction of assistive devices and enhanced health care, a large portion of people with disabilities can be employed and hence they have enough discretionary income to take a leisure trip. This paper critically evaluates the need for accessible tourism in the eve of the present scenario of increasing aging population and an enhanced healthcare system that prolongs quality life. An in-depth review of the existing literature review conducted to conclude the result of the study in Kerala.

Keywords:  Tourism, Accessible tourism, Kerala, Disability, Aging population.
