In this paper, we are discussing the community involvement in tourism and the best practices of community tourism in Kerala for tourism development. Through this, the community can economically benefit and they will aware of various tourism practices. The major hindrance of community-based tourism and the lack of community practices is leakage of money to the intermediaries. The host communities are becoming unaware of the benefits of tourism and emerging potentials of community tourism and community involvement.

Tourism is a people-oriented industry and its major functions depend on human resources. Tourism is a major source of employment and it has all capabilities in contributing towards the livelihood of the local community by providing employment and involving them in all kinds of tourism activities. This paper concludes with the findings and suggestions of how the local community is involved in various tourism activities and practices, what are the benefits of community tourism and future opportunities in Kerala.
