Green Tourism in India: Towards a Sustainable Growth

Ecotourism is a new approach to tourism. Ecotourism helps to preserve the cultural and natural history of the environment and takes care of the integrity of the ecosystem. In short, ecotourism can also be called “Nature-based, ecologically sustainable, where education and interpretation are a major constituent and where local people are benefitted”. If a journey does not fulfill any of these criteria, then it is not an ecotourism venture.

Today, tourism is a key factor for generating revenue and employment and as India is considered one of the most preferred destinations to visit. Thus, this concerns us for conserving and preventing our major sites which draw our attention towards ecotourism. This article will help you know the various aspects of green tourism. The data collection used was secondary data from books, websites, articles. The results show that there is a continuous increase in tourism over recent years which demands continues efforts from the tourism ministry to support and promote ecotourism.
